This position is a temporary assignment. As a contractor, you’ll be employed by Magnit, not The Cigna Group or any subsidiaries of The Cigna Group.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Modeler who combines deep expertise in data modeling with strong skills in data analysis, data profiling, and data mapping. This role is critical to shaping our enterprise data architecture, ensuring high-quality, well-governed, and fit-for-purpose data assets that support advanced analytics and business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores, and data products.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into high-quality data models and documentation.
- Perform data analysis and profiling to assess data quality, discover data relationships, and identify anomalies.
- Develop data mappings between source and target systems to support ETL/ELT and data integration efforts.
- Document data sources, business definitions, data lineage, and transformation rules to ensure traceability and transparency.
- Work closely with data architects, analysts, and engineers to ensure models are scalable, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Contribute to data governance by defining and enforcing data modeling standards, naming conventions, and metadata practices.
- Support data discovery and metadata capture in tools like Collibra, Alation, etc.
- Partner with engineering teams to validate data model implementations and ensure conformance with data specifications.
- Advocate data quality, consistency, and integrity across all layers of the data architecture.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data modeling and enterprise data management.
- Strong proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
- Demonstrated experience in data profiling, using tools such as Informatica Data Quality, Talend, or SQL-based profiling.
- Expertise in data mapping and source-to-target (S2T) documentation for integration and migration projects.
- Deep understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schema design, and normalization techniques.
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, analysis, and validation of data across platforms.
- Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
- Experience with databases Teradata, Oracle or Databricks.
- Agile/Scrum project experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Healthcare Experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with data warehouse and ETL/ELT design patterns.
- Experience with business glossary and metadata management in Collibra, Alation, or Informatica Axon.
- Working knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $61.00/hour-$75.00/hour
